Project Background
Integrity requires a Junior Analyst to support the delivery of the monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) systems assessments workstream of the Independent Monitoring, Rapid Research and Evidence Facility (IMREF) for DFID’s Safety, Support and Solutions Phase II (SSS II) programme.
SSS II operates in 14 countries along the Central Mediterranean Route (CMR) to make migration safer and more orderly and provide critical humanitarian support. The SSS II programme is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the British Red Cross (BRC), the United Nations Children's Fund and a consortium of NGOs led by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).
Through independent monitoring activities, the IMREF project aims to improve accountability and understanding of delivery and results. IMREF will also facilitate programme adaptation and learning by conducting research in nine countries along the CMR to inform the programme and potentially policy decisions to support people in mixed migration flows..
Scope of Work:
The Junior Analyst will contribute to IMREF’s MEL System Assessments of SSS II Implementing Partners (IPs) by supporting the coordination, preparation, translation and delivery of assessments examining IP MEL systems in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Guinea and Libya. The Junior Analyst will accompany the Assessment team to some of these countries and should be fit and available for regular travel.
Terms of Reference:
- Support team members in planning and preparing in-country assessments, including on obtaining required documents in advance of country level assessments and scheduling in-person interviews with relevant IP MEL and programme management staff.
- Support with country-visit logistical arrangements, including coordinating with IMREF’s Operations Officer and IPs to agree access and in-country transportation.
- Organise IP document libraries to ensure consistency across IPs and facilitate document reviews.
- Support in-country interviews, transcribe interviews, and support with any translation requirements;
- Contribute to daily internal daily debriefs with the assessment team in-country and ensure an accurate record of actions and decisions is taken.
- Lead on cleaning and coding interview notes during and following the country visits.
- Support with analysing results, drafting country-level assessment reports, and uploading these to the IMREF Digital Reporting Platform.
Reporting and Supervision:
The Junior Analyst will report to the Team Leader for all technical matters, and to the Project manager for all operational or contractual issues.
Skills and experience profile:
- Previous experience in conducting/ transcribing interviews (essential).
- Fluent French speaking and writing skills (essential).
- Fluent English speaking and writing skills (essential).
- Strong management and people skills, highly organised and able to meet tight deadlines under pressure (essential).
- Excellent analytical skills (essential).
- Knowledge of or interest in migration issues in west and north Africa (desirable).
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning experience (desirable).
- 2 years of experience in development or humanitarian programming (desirable). A minimum of a bachelor's degree in political science, modern languages or another relevant field (desirable).
